As a practicing physician for more than 15 years and founder of a telehealth company, one of the jobs I love most is connecting with people who have benefitted from using V2MD.
Hearing their stories makes me so proud and confirms that this journey we’re on is the right one. I recently spoke with a patient who has had great success using V2MD and I hope that in sharing it below, others will benefit as well.
Dr. Virk: Linda, when did you first hear about V2MD by MediSprout and why did you start using it?
Linda C: I came to Mt. Sinai in May of 2017. Prior to that, I had been to 5 doctors in New Jersey who were unable to help me with Ulcerative Colitis. By the time I came to Mt. Sinai, I was a physical and psychological mess. I saw Karen Conlon, LMSW, a few times in person, but trying to get to Mt. Sinai was a great effort for me. After seeing several psychologists, Karen was the only person able help me and I did not want to stop due to travel restrictions and distance. This is when Karen suggested using telehealth to continue our appointments.
Dr. Virk: What do you like most about using V2MD?
Linda C: By far the best thing about using V2MD was being able to continue seeing Karen without having to find a way to get to New York.
Dr. Virk: Were there secondary benefits to using V2MD?
Linda C: I live about 50 miles from the hospital, so travel time was anywhere from one hour to 90 minutes. Besides saving travel time, I also saved on the tolls for the Garden State Parkway, New Jersey Turnpike, and the George Washington Bridge.
Dr. Virk: How has your relationship changed with your doctor since using V2MD?
Linda C: I feel my relationship with Karen is great. I can see her more frequently because I do not have to travel to New York. I am under control now so I do not connect with her every week. However, when I was in a flare being able to speak to her weekly saved my life. I was in a flare for 3 ½ years and before that I was a very healthy person. She helped me control my thoughts and I was able to work through what I was feeling. I could never thank her enough for what she has done for me and it was because of the telehealth service that it was able to happen.
Dr. Virk: Would you recommend V2MD to other patients and physicians?
Linda C: Yes, without a doubt. It is not always easy to get to an appointment due to where you live and time restraints. This tool allows people to receive help that they may not otherwise be able to get.
